What to do in Covid-19 Lockdown?

Amid the coronavirus lockdown, we have found ourselves in an unlikely spot. All the dreams and aspirations that we have kept on hold, all the time we had spent declining phone calls from family and friends under the pretext of being busy, all the time you have spent away from home telling yourself that it is the byproduct of your achievements, has come to an unprecedented hold. The Covid-19 crisis along with its sadness has brought most of us a newfound pain, the pain of having the time and not knowing what to do with it. Confused you toil around your bed, watch Netflix, talk over the phone or keep browsing the net for newfound stats on the number of cases. Within all this aimless buzz there is still a sense of void, the phone or TV that were previously the only source of solace to escape the chatter of office politics or social conversations seems redundant and unsatisfying. Hence, I have tried to list a few things down to help you structure your day and time better.
  1. Spend Time with Family
We have all been so caught up in the humdrum of our life that we have forgotten how to bond with our family. The chaos of life coupled with our own aspirations had kept us apart for so long. Finally, there is time for you to spend time with your family. If you are stuck in other places call them using skype, google duo or any such app. The aim is to recover the lost time with them.
  1. Cooking

I know you have been trying really hard to stay away from junk food, but when that dominos ad pops up on your screen you just can’t resist it. For others, it is the dried energy reserves that have kept them from their wholesome diet. Now is the right moment to open up the recipes of Gordon Ramsey or Sanjeev Kapoor and develop your most innovative dishes.

  1. Read

Enough is enough you cannot give any excuses now for not opening that Dan Brown or Charles Dickens lying wrapped in your study. It’s time to explore the infinite world of reading. Living the lives from the eyes of authors and exploring treacherous lands of middle earth (Lord of the Rings).

  1. Up-skill yourself

Did you feel outwitted on any subject or have always wanted to learn some coding. It is the perfect time to tingle your curiosity and explore the endless world of Edu-Tech. From the cryptic world of Blockchain to interesting new languages the possibilities are endless.

  1. Plan your Business

Are you one of those people who have always felt that your 9-5 world is not satisfying you? Have you felt like you are a part of a rat-race? Now is the perfect time to plan your business strategy. After the dust has settled on the Covid-19, there is a possibility that your business acumen would be needed to sustain the world economy.

  1. Meditate/Exercise
Waking up early morning or going for evening exercise has always felt like a burden for most of us after days’ work or last night’s hangover or due to the excess noise in and around the cities. Now is the time to soul gaze or exploit those muscles that have been sitting idle. The air couldn’t be clearer or quieter, give your lungs a healthy dose of oxygen with the soothing rhythm of chirping birds.
  1. Think/Write

Time is perfect to take out your journal and jot down those ideas. Take the pen and paper and start expressing yourself, you might be surprised by the mysterious thoughts and ideas your brain can develop.

  1. Fix your Photo Albums
This could also be a nice time to sit with family and explore the photo albums. It’s been long since you have kept your photos on your phones only to lose them when you change the device or to more important data storage. Now is the time to sort through that photo album and find the lost memories.
  1. Gaming (Online/Multiplayer)
Online gaming could be an amazing way to socialize with your friends and mutually explore adventures sitting on your couch (maintaining social distances). There is no dearth of such games, for starters, you could try PubG, Call of Duty, DOTA, etc.
  1. Music

Music lovers this is the best time to sort through that music album you build during college days. Catch up to the latest songs from your favorites. Music can also be a nice way to drift into your thoughts and ideas. You can also start your lessons on Guitar, Piano or any musical instrument that you always wanted to.

The options are endless. I would love to hear from you all how you are spending these days? Please stay at home and utilize this time for self-exploration and catch up on your plans. Let us win this fight against the Covid-19 and come out much more prepared and informed.
